I have started solids!  I enjoy my rice cereal but I'm still not quite sure what's going on with this spoon eating thing.  I want to chew on the spoon!

Christmas presents

For Christmas this year, I have a special request. I would like to put together a photo book of all Aidan's relatives doing one of their hobbies. If you all could send me a picture of yourself (with your face clearly showing) for my book, I would much appreciate it. If possible, it would be great to get these pictures by Thanksgiving!

Also, I would like to request the following Christmas gift for Aidan:
-A favorite book from your childhood (or one you loved to read to your children)

If you want to pick out clothes for him that's great too. Right now he is in 6 - 9 month stuff so I would go for 12 month (especially in Carter's which runs small). He has outgrown nearly all of his footed pajamas (since they are very length constrained and he is very long).

Magnus wanted to remind everyone that he likes bones and stuffed animals (don't worry he doesn't eat Aidan's toys), but most of all he likes for you to come visit him.

Aidan's Smile

Discovering Hands

Aidan has discovered his hands. They have been in his mouth ever since.

My personal favorite shot.

And dad's hands work just as well.

2 month stats

Although Aidan is 10 weeks old we had his 2 month appointment today. Here are his stats:

Weight: 14 pounds 1 oz (90%)
Length: 25.25 inches (95%)

He is a little fussy tonight after his four shots. But he did really well at the doctors.

More pictures and exciting news!

Last night Aidan slept from 10 to 4:30. He even went back to sleep fairly easily after having an early breakfast.

Aidan and I went apple picking yesterday at Larriland farms, a tradition from my childhood I want to continue. He hung out with Aunt Martha while Kate and I gathered apples. And let me tell you, its ridiculous how good these apples are.

We also attended our first La Leche League meeting wearing this wonderful shirt. (Thank you Sarabeth).

Aidan and Rachel

Special Beginnings

Aidan was born at Special Beginnings. We went there today for my six week postpartum check up. Everything is good for me and Aidan enjoyed seeing his favorite midwife Rachel- the midwife who delivered him.

A couple thoughts and thanks on my birthing experience:

I can't begin to describe how great my experience delivering at Special Beginnings was. They took the time to answer my questions at my appointments, answered my many questions at all hours of the day when I called there answering service. Many people have thought it was crazy for me to go home four hours after having Aidan but I think the amount of support the midwives gave me over the two weeks after Aidan was born was more support than I would have received in three days at a hospital.

A special thanks to Vicki and Gina- without them Aidan would not be a breastfed baby. Also, thank you Allie for alerting us to Aidan having jaundice and being an awesome nurse.

Last but not least, I had an awesome doula, Shannon Robinson. You would not believe what a difference having a doula during labor makes. I wouldn't do it any other way and hope she is still around when Derek and I are ready for another baby.

I think natural childbirth is the way to go because the recovery time was very fast and at Special Beginnings I was able to make choices that would not have been an option at a hospital. I did not have to have an IV and I could eat and drink as I pleased. Having Shannon there helped keep me calm and she guided me through various positions to help progress my labor. Can't beat six hours of labor time at the birthing center and only thirty minutes of pushing. I was one of the few women in my pregnancy forum that actually experienced the birth they had planned in their birthing plans.

Hopefully I won't get into trouble for posting there websites.
